What do you Care about?
“Donate to Curate” questions the economy driven city and are looking for gestures of care, forms of collectivity and modes of hospitality.
“Donate to Curate” is a project lead by the transdisciplinary group – “Slow Spicy Curatorial Practices”, in the framework of Connecting Spaces Hong Kong – Zurich at Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). It is part of Manifesta 11, the European Biennial of Contemporary Art which 2016 is hosted by the City of Zurich. The project will take place on a fallow ground nearby the ZHdK, in the middle of a new commercial zone of the former industrial part of the city. The basic infrastructure will be made of waste and recycled materials and is thought as a shelter for people, artistic practices and events. We are looking for artistic, social and collaborative projects to be realized in summer 2016.
In trying to establish exchanges with Hong Kong, we are looking for formats* that focus on processes, (daily) practices, works in progress, research based and/or collective works which deal with the posed question. Our aim is to cross link participants as well as proposals. We offer travel cost from Hong Kong to Zurich and modest accommodation for the time of your contribution up to a week (conditions can be discussed individually depending on the scope of the project). Due to limited budget, we would be able to provide one return ticket per project. We encourage you to seek necessary external funding for your project with an official support letter from Slow Spicy Curatorial Practices.
Participants should be:
- open to collaborate with other participants and further develop their projects.
- able to arrange valid visa during the timeframe of your proposed project in between 11 June to 8 September 2016 in Zurich; dates to be annouced.
- willing to fully participate the preparatory work shop “Spring Kitchen” dated 25 – 29 April 2016 in ConnectingSpace, Hong Kong.
- able to communicate in English
